Defining and Analysing Products

  • Overview
    • People and teams have different approaches to planning — some like to “brainstorm” lists of products, others go for the “flow diagram” and others for product or work breakdown structure. In reality, a “mix and match” is most often used. P2WORLD Planning supports you, however you do it!
    • You can create a product directly in the Product Breakdown Structure, Product Flow Diagram or the Product Checklist. Whichever window you choose the product appears in the other windows and a Product Description is automatically created for it
    • P2WORLD Planning assigns each new product a unique default name that you can edit at any time by simply overtyping

  • In practice
    • If you are working on your own, then P2WORLD Planning has everything you need, right on your desktop or laptop. You can use it as your “scratchpad”, saving different versions of the plan as it evolves.
    • More likely you will be working with others — group planning sessions are particularly productive, especially if stakeholders and experts are involved. Use P2WORLD Planning to capture the results of the interactive session into your laptop and project them for everyone to see and review. Subsequently email copies to interested parties — they only need the free P2WORLD Reader to access the files

  • In Product Breakdown Structure
    • Creating products in this window is done by either using the "Insert" key, selecting “Insert” from the toolbar or by simple mouse action — once created, simply connect a product to its “parent”

  • In Product Checklist
    • Creating products in this window is done by selecting “Insert” from the toolbar or by simple mouse action

  • In the Product Flow Diagram
    • Creating products in this window is done selecting “Insert” from the toolbar or by simple mouse action — once created, simply connect a product to its “predecessors” and “successors”
